Throw Pillow Project

I’ve been wanting to make some throw pillows ever since we bought the big blue couch. The ones that came with it were nice, but just not quite up to snuff – in style and comfort. So this last weekend I buckled down and finally made some throw pillows. My skills with a sewing machine is pretty basic, I’ve made a few things but the owner’s manual has always been a very important part of my sewing experience. What I’m saying is that if I can make two pillows over one weekend, so can anyone.

I fell in love with this pennant fabric from the new fabric collection by Sweetwater, called Reunion. I thought the blue version would be a fun addition to the big blue couch. The basic idea for this project came Rae Gun Ramblings’ post on how to make a quick envelope pillow case. I love how they turned out, and if I have another free weekend I might even make another set of throw pillows. So look out futon, you’re next!
